OVERVIEW:

Today, we live in a rapidly changing world. The challenges and changes are numerous and successive. The call for continuous educational interventions, have had a direct impact on all aspects of contemporary life and require extensive objective research in educational practices that take place in the educational system including students, teachers, administrators, schools, universities, curricula and educational materials. The conference highlights the importance of improving the quality of life for people with learning difficulties as it is a significant factor in the development of teaching and learning and their outcomes as well as reaching excellence in the education of people with learning difficulties. The conference is attended by distinguished local and international speakers and experts in learning difficulties and a number of researchers and attendees from various Arab countries.

The conference also looks forward to offering an open discussion forum for the best programs, services and local and international experiences and applications in various international educational systems in the areas of different learning difficulties, besides the specialized workshops on learning difficulties. As youth play an important and effective role in society in general, a special youth circle will be provided to discuss topics of interest to them on learning difficulties.

The conference will also include the accompanying exhibition, which aims to preview the services, programs and activities provided by the centers concerned with learning difficulties as well as assistive technology and teaching aids. The Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties will have a special pavilion called the interactive room that simulates the reality of people with learning difficulties.

Objectives of the Conference:

  • 1. To raise awareness of the rights of persons with learning difficulties in terms of life, educational and practical and raise recommendations for the enactment of laws that ensure the protection of the rights of people with learning difficulties in all areas.

  • 3. To provide the best programs and curricula for people with learning difficulties and the possibility of adapting them to suit the UAE environment
  • 4. To provide stability and health, psychological and social care for people with learning difficulties and their families

  • 6. To provide awareness and guidance for families with learning difficulties.
  • 7. To prepare the school environment to meet the basic needs of children with learning difficulties.
  • 8. To modify the incorrect educational trends of families with learning difficulties by directing and educating the family and creating an atmosphere conducive to permanent cooperation between the family and the school, leading to a social adjustment in line with the social norms and attitudes based on positivity and self-confidence.

Criteria for acceptance of scientific research and papers:

Scientific research papers that meet the following criteria are accepted:

  • 1. Main page to include the title of research or paper, the researcher name, and degree, and his organization, the full address, and e-mail.
  • 2. Scientific research should apply a research method and shouldn’t be published or presented in a previous conference.
  • 3. The page count should not exceed 15 pages, so that the spacing between lines is a Single Space, page size A4, Line size 12, with line type Simplified Arabic.
  • 4. Documentation of the in-text citations and the references list using APA style.

Participation Procedures:

  • 1. The abstract should be sent to the e-mail and must not exceed 300 words.
  • 2. The scientific committee evaluates the participants' abstracts, and the acceptance or rejection will be given within two weeks of receiving the abstract.
  • 3. All participants in the conference shall be registered with scientific research, working papers or attendance only through the link www.scld.shj.ae.
  • 4. Accepted abstracts will be published in a special booklet with the conference program.
  • 5. Full research papers should be sent by e-mail: conference@scld.shj.ae.

Understanding Learning Difficulties & Developing A Skill-Based Home

About the workshop

Learning difficulties is a complex umbrella term that refers to variables including auditory and visual intelligence, academic achievement skills, and general abilities to produce in different educational constructs. However, each learning difficulty is different, therefore making it hard to pinpoint adolescent strengths and weaknesses and differentiate intervention methods. This presentation will provide a broad introduction to learning difficulties by dissecting various forms of intelligences, common diagnoses, and common co-occurring issues. Additionally, interventions and strategies will be taught that can translate to the classroom and home to increase executive functioning, social-emotional, and self-awareness skills.
